GenNexus: The First Generation Born into Co-Intelligence
The children in this image are not “the future.” They are the world already arriving. Born after 2020, GenNexus is the first generation whose earliest memories, learning environments, and identities are unfolding in a world shaped by generative AI. They will never know a world without machine partners, ambient intelligence, or adaptive systems that learn from them as quickly as they learn from us. This is why, in my upcoming book Your Third Brain: Powering a Future of Unimagined Possibilities (Morgan James, August 2026), I introduce and name this new cohort: GenNexus.
Nexus means connection, crossroads, the point where forces converge and something new emerges. GenNexus represents exactly that turning point. They are growing up at the intersection of human intention and machine capability, where emotional development, cognitive patterns, and cultural values are influenced by systems designed to respond to human behavior at scale. For the first time in history, children are being shaped by tools that evolve with them in real time, and those same tools will reflect back whatever humanity we choose to model.
Their importance is enormous. GenNexus will define the norms, ethics, and expectations of a co-intelligent society. They will inherit the systems we are building now, and those systems will absorb the imprint of our choices. The question is no longer only how AI will shape our children. It is also how our children will shape AI.
GenNexus reminds us that the future is already writing itself in the eyes of today’s youngest humans. They are the first generation born into partnership with intelligent machines, and the humanity we demonstrate today will echo through every system they will touch tomorrow.
Each week, in The Myers Report I share my philosophy, my hope for future generations, and context excerpted from my next book, Your Third Brain. I appreciate the financial and emotional support from my readers and encourage your comments.
