This week’s episode of Nip/Tuck on FX opens with Marilyn Monroe wanting a boob job. Of course, it isn’t the real Marilyn – she would need more than a boob job by now! But Joyce needs the work done to try to compete with Sharon – the other Marilyn. They used to be friends, but when Sharon started infringing on Joyce’s hours, the claws came out.

Christian happily agrees to do Joyce’s work until Sean walks in. She says she just “couldn’t pass up an opportunity to work with a star.” Ouch, someone, quick, pull the knife out of Christian’s ego!

It gets worse when Sean gets close to co-star Kate. After her mom cancels out on an award show, she asks Sean to be her escort. Things are going well until Sean kisses her and Kate freaks out. Did Sean read her signals wrong? Nope, turns out Kate used to be BIG Kate and had gastric bypass surgery. Now she has flaps of skin just hanging. But hey, she is dating a plastic surgeon – what could be better? Sean offers to help make her body beautiful.

Christian expects big exposure with US Weekly’s exposé on Carly’s plastic surgery. But Christian doesn’t know how the Hollywood game is played. Fiona finds out and the cover tells not of Dr. Christian Troy’s greatness, but attributes Carly’s new look to juicing and yoga. Fiona tells Christian she is dumping him as a client, but he practically begs her to help him. He tells her how everyone in Miami either wanted him or wanted to be him, but now he is no one special.

Fiona agrees to a nude photo shoot for Christian. The only problem is while he looks good in leopard skin undies, his, uh, appendage doesn’t exactly want to cooperate for the “money shot.” Thankfully, Fiona finds out he’s a boob man and flashes him hers. Christian is ready for his close-up!

The nude doctor spread works great for Christian – the office is flooded…with gay men. But hey, at least he is double-booked for six weeks thanks to Fiona and the “gay mafia.” After all, Samantha said it on Sex & the City: “First the gays, then the girls, then the directors.”

Back at the clinic, Marilyn #2, Sharon, shows up for a boob job. Because Sean did Joyce’s, Christian takes Sharon’s case. Things get sticky when Sharon is wheeled into Joyce’s room – can you say Marilyn catfight? But the boys seem to think it will bring the girls together. That doesn’t quite work, as Joyce tries to overdose to be the ultimate Marilyn. The boys get there in time to save her.

Julia calls to tell the boys big news – she is seeing someone and it is serious. Sean and Christian both take it well, but Julia won’t talk about “Mr. Right” until she visits L.A.

When she visits, she has a little surprise for them – not Mr. Right, but Ms. Right. Actually, it is Mrs. Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi. How ingenious to hire a lesbian to play a lesbian! (We will see how well it works in upcoming episodes.) Sean seems finally to have figured out what went wrong with him and Julia. As he put it, he was “barking up the wrong tree.”

Tension between Christian and Sean mounts as Sean is named one of People magazine’s Most Eligible Bachelors. After Sean does Kate’s surgery, he asks Christian to do the follow-up. Kate still feels like the little fat girl and thinks Sean has rejected her. She falls right into Christian’s web.

Seriously, I wonder how these guys can still be friends sometimes. But then I guess since they could get past the Julia thing (Christian bedded Julia the night before her wedding to Sean), they can get past anything.

Kate invites Christian to be her escort to the People’s Choice awards. In the end, Christian knows he is wrong and gives the ticket to Sean. He and Kate make up and all is well.

Christian visits Mann’s Chinese Theatre to check up on the Marilyns. They are friends again and working together. They do their best work, however, as the final scene shows them making Christian the middle of a Marilyn sandwich.

I'm with you, Libby. I don't know how they can be friends sometimes. They act like such children. I've always wondered why the two have always had a thing for Julia. The woman fell out of an ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

Portia de Rossi is such a delicious addition to the show, though.
